The Problem
IKEA had utility bills, not answers. Across 87 sites of different sizes and formats, there was no way to see which systems were underperforming, compare performance site to site, or catch waste before it showed up on a bill.
The Approach
Renteknik deployed wireless monitoring across every major load — HVAC, lighting, refrigeration, EV and forklift chargers, solar generation, water and gas — at 87 sites in two countries, without the panel shutdowns or months of electrical work a hardwired approach would have required. Most sites were fully instrumented in about two working days, with operations continuing throughout.
The Results
The visibility is already paying for itself in ways a utility bill never could. Within weeks of going live, unusually high water consumption at one site was caught, quantified and corrected — the kind of issue that would otherwise have run invisibly for months. The rollout has since expanded to new-construction stores, distribution centres and pickup points across both countries, with full results now being evaluated at a corporate level.
